Apologies for the delay in getting this posted . Both Scottish Athletics and the GAA have covered the outstanding performances of our relay teams before us so we have added their posts here.

The club had 2 Gold Medal Winning teams with our  U17 Women taking a Scottish Record with a great time of  1.44.01. Yes we know we await ratification but we are confident of another significant record from our brilliant sprint relay teams

Well done to the U17 Women

“GIFFNOCK GIRLS IMPRESS: It really was a record-breaking weekend in various ways and there was even a National best mark at the Junior Relays. The U17 quartet from Giffnock North AAC clocked 1.44.01 for their 4 x 200m relay and we undertand via the scotstats.net site that this was a National Record for U17 Women. Many congratulations to them, their coaches and families!
While we are on Giffnock, well worth checking out the link here to a wee blog post from GB and Scotland international Luke Traynor in the United States as he keeps the club up-dated on his progress and good runs recently also by Neil Gourley.
This is great ‘communications’ work at club level and a really good example of ‘joined-up’ thinking, whereby Senior athletes can be inspirational for the next generation.”

Club Connect  Relays at Glasgow Grand Prix.

“Saturday saw the Scottish Age Groups Relay Championship double up as Club Connect insert to the packed programme at the Glasgow Grand Prix and what a day it was for the participants from the Glasgow clubs represented.

Athletes got ready by warming up in the same area as many of the top athletics stars preparing to go out and compete in the world’s best Indoor Athletics Meet, being held in Glasgow for the first time. U13 Boys with their gold medals & a rather large cheque for the club.

So 4 Medal winning winning teams from Giffnock. What a haul from U13 to U17 and  don’t forget our  Senior Women’s Team medalled the previous weekend with 3rd place . We know that our superb U13 Girls Teams were more than disappointed on the day as they had realistically hoped to be on the Podium too. They nevertheless took that UK record in the heats and they will be back at the SAIL and ready for the outdoors season. Another good day for Giffnock North AAC. Those in the teams who did not make the Podium this time around need to remember that they also  contribute significantly  to the rising standards and aspirations in the club . Well done to all the coaches involved .

We hope the parents who managed to get tickets enjoyed the experience at the Emirates watching our stars and then the superstars at a very packed and sold out Arena.   The advice in future is to buy your tickets to ensure you can see all the action. Well done to our Kit Carriers  too .
