The full smiling Antrim XC Squad Discovering Belfast after competing at the IAAF XC International on Saturday the 14th January

Lynn & Charlotte McKenna

A complicated set of results for Under 17 Women Lynn and Charlotte McKenna  at yesterdays XC in Antrim due to the issues re British Cross Challenge , the Northern Irish  and the Teams from Eire . Its enough for us to know they did really well but here is the full explanation form Frank McKenna ,Dad to Charlotte and Lynn

“The women’s U20 and U17 races were combined, making it difficult to interpret the final finishing places. This was further complicated by there being participants in the race who were from Eire and the Ireland Development squad, none of whom were eligible for British Cross challenge placings.

Lynn finished 3rd overall and Charlotte 4th overall, but as the first and second places were taken by participants from Eire and the Irish Development Squad, this meant that Lynn took first place in the Cross Challenge and Charlotte second.

The event is called the IAAF Antrim Cross Country International incorporating the British Athletics Cross Country Challenge -so it is a combined race allowing GB and NI [which is one nation i.e. British] athletes to compete with any other athletes who enter i.e. international athletes who can be athletes from any other countries e.g. Eire[Ireland which does not include NI] or Kenya or France etc, but the international athletes cannot count for the British Cross Challenge component, it is only athletes from Britain [Scotland,England ,Wales and Northern Ireland] who can compete for this part.”
