Dear Colleague

Giffnock North A.A.C. Athletics Section are keen to encourage the development of athletics in our area. We are
again organising our Annual Cross-Country Races at Rouken Glen Park on Sunday Oct 21st 2012 for schools,
teams and individuals. The age categories are Primary School 5, 6, 7 [from age 9] and appropriate bandings for
secondary schools.

Entries will be strictly Pre-Entry on the form enclosed at £2.00 per athlete (cheques should be made payable
to Giffnock North AAC Athletics Section). Entries will not be accepted on the day. We would appreciate if
your entries could reach us by 14th Oct It would also be most helpful if entries were returned via e-mail to
anne.stewart17@btinternet.com or by post, details are on entry form.

The entry form is also available to download here

from our website:

Essential Information: Schools wishing to enter individuals or Teams must identify a Teacher or Appropriate
parent to act as the Co-ordinator/Team Manager on the day, to collect the Race Numbers for all pupils and make
arrangements to meet at a pre-defined point in the Park to distribute these [Schools with large entries and
additional helpers/managers must still define one overall Team Manager. Recently, one school had a great entry of
138!!. A manager for each Primary Age Group is probably essential for most primaries.

Can we remind schools that Race numbers are unique to Individuals and Age Groups. A P5 girl Race number
will not work for a P7 boy, but will upset the team results. Under no Circumstances should you give the
number to anyone other than who it is meant for. BUT If an athlete cannot come and you wish to make
a last minute substitution, you must let us know at Declarations and we will sort this out for you. The correct
information will then be put into the system.

Our aim is to help you and help young athletes enjoy, what for many, may be their first Cross Country race in the
safe environment of the park.

All athletes should bring safety pins [4] to attach race numbers to front of vests/t-shirts and food and drink for after
the race. In case of wet weather a change of clothing, water proof bags to keep items dry, a small towel, spare
shoes or wellies if you are walking the course.
