A superb set of Results and Reports starting with the SSAA Indoor Championships at the Emirates on Thursday and Friday , more on Saturday with the SUCA and Sunday Super Teams while Neil Gourley was doing a blistering run on the Indoor Track for Virginia Tec. The first Sub 4 minute miler ever from a Giffnock North athlete and only the second at Virginia Tec. Well done Neil from all at Giffnock North !!

Gerry Duggan also added a substantial well done to Robert Moses who equalled the 60m Club Record as he won the Silver Medal at the Scottish University and College Indoor Champs at the Emirates on Saturday 6th Feb. Robert has put a fantastic series of 60m runs together over the past month, getting faster in every event.
Time for our Super Teams to take the stage . This competition proved to be immensely popular this year and Giffnock could only enter 2 Girls and 2 Boys teams . The Girls A team took the Gold medals with Isla Scott, Lara Maguire, Amy Greene and Imogen Maher. With Storm Imogen blowing outside our Imogen , just about coped with the jokes and getting blamed for the weather at Greenock !
The Boys A Team took second place with Gordon Wylie, Jamie Brinkworth, Nathan Gozo and Lewis Taylor
The provisional results for the Super Teams are now available on the SA website.
Meanwhile all our hardy Endurance [ Correct term for this effort] Road Runners were bracing themselves to run in the wildest weather that Hurricane Imogen was throwing at them competing in the Renfrewshire Road Race Championships . A true battering in the Battery Park by the torrential gales and wind. We always thought the Park had that name for another reason.
Nuala O’Donnell & Ethan Carolan doing battle with the ferocious conditions
This is normally a path not a stream!
Dudley reports from the Park
Today was in my top three worst weather spectating days and I’m inclined to think most of the competitors might agree with me.
As a squad we did pretty well………
Team wise I think we won the under 11 girls and boys, the under 13 boys and girls (with Kate Richardson ,Helen Chong and Francesca Davidson 1,2 and 3!)under 15 girls took gold, boys I think were 2nd.Under 17 boys were first also. Our under 17 girls picked a good day to have a rest.
Individually we picked up a medal or two with Kate Richardson and Emily Crusher taking gold.
But with victory there was a price to pay…several athletes had to pull out due to the unforgiving wind and rain.Never seen the first aid guys so busy!.There were enormous puddles all over the place and some steeplechasing careers started unofficially today!
Well done to everyone who braved the elements today.I’m sure some of the mums and dads who were cheering on today were wishing their offspring had taken up darts or dominoes!
Well done to all the heroes at Greenock!
We await the final results including good results from our Seniors from a very busy Jeni Thomson from Kilbarchan who is still sorting out results from races where the race numbers were unreadable or totally disappeared in the wet and windy conditions- probably landing in Dunoon .Thanks Jeni.
Please let us know if we have missed anyone or there are any photographs we could be posting . Thank you.
Well done to all our athletes competing indoors and out !
