The weather could not have been better for the hundreds of athletes assembled at Callendar Park to tackle a revised course which seemed to suit most of the racers or was the weather the main plus , we ask.
U13 Boys had no individual medallists but worked hard on the day as a squad with Ethan Carolan , Harris Paterson , Murray Fotheringham and Joseph McKay initially on the top of the Podium only to be demoted to Silver after the organisers managed to completely miss out actual winners Moorfoot , through a technical glitch.
Kate Richardson, Lily Jane Evans -Haggerty of VPCOG and Helen Chong
And the Team: Francesca, Kate, Helen and Isla
U13 Girls took two individual medals with brilliant runs from Helen Chong to take Silver and Kate Richardson to get the Bronze. With Isla Ward in 14th and Francesca Davidson in 15th , close order indeed with a low points score of 34 … there was no doubt about the Gold Team Medal result in that Race.
Determination to the fore at the start of the race
U15 Boys saw Hamish Armitt on the Podium again in 3rd for bronze medal place and delighted according to Dawn ,his mum , with Hamish a first year in his age group. Calum Young, Ben Shaw and Jack Bell fought hard but the team were officially pipped for bronze by Cambuslang [ although awarded the medals on the day]
U15 Girls provided another delight with Lynn McKenna -maybe even surprised ,but rightly leading the race for a sizeable period and fronting her team, in only 26 points, to the individual Silver . Lynn’s twin sister Charlotte ran home in fourth and Emily Crusher was seventh and Clare Wallace 10th in another powerful performance from all the girls.
Our next four U15 Girls , Annabel Ballantyne, Sofia Kirkpatrick, Zoe Coyne and Lisa Miller placed so well, they were actually third complete team of four , but rules don’t allow multiple medals for one club ,sadly. Girls you have the consolation of knowing you’re among the best in Scotland
It takes the whole U15 team and Squad support !
U17 Women Our U17 Girls with Erin Wallace , Danielle Kelly and Kirsty Griffiths took the Bronze medal slot , ably supported by Kate Saxon.
A young U17 Men’s squad led in by Andrew Love were 4th Team with promises to rectify that next time
Senior women took a creditable 10th Place in a large field with Jill Smyllie, Allie Chong, Mary McCutcheon and Sheila Lewis and Senior men were 22nd in an even larger field of entrants.
Well done to all our athletes !
Giffnock North teams and individuals acquitted themselves very well despite the later disappointments of amended results .

The coaches highlight of the day ,amongst so many great performances over the Falkirk course , had to be Francesca Davidson getting on the Podium after overcoming serious illness and fighting her way back to fitness to take her place in a winning U13 Girls Team.
