Rachel Alexander jumped 6.10 today while guesting at the Loughborough International. She also recorded a 2nd jump of 6m in the competition.
This gives Rachel the qualifying distance for both the Scotland Team for the CYG [Commonwealth Youth Games] in Samoa [requiring 5.75m] in September and for the GB & NI Team for the IAAF World Youth Championships in Cali,Columbia in July [requiring 6.05m] Selection for both these events takes place at the end of June and the Club will be waiting to hear the Team announcements with great anticipation.
Rachel has smashed the Club records with these performances . She is of course the first Giffnock North female athlete to go over 6m and how.The news was received with whoops of joy by the coaches and athletes at a wild, wet and windy CSSL in Kilmarnock and delivered via a telephone call with Jackie Alexander our Hurdles coach and Rachel’s very proud mother.
A fantastic day for Rachel, her family ,the coaches involved in her progress and her training group too.
