Giffnock juniors were again on top form at the Emirates Arena, competing in the Scottish Junior u13/u15/u20 Indoor Age Group Championships at the weekend. Giffnock athletes took 20 medals in total, 6 Gold, 6 Silver and 8 Bronze and set three Scottish records in the process. There were also 9 club records.
u20 sprinter Jenna Wrisberg continued her rich vein of form successfully defending her 60m title with a run of 7.50 seconds , breaking the twenty year old Scottish record in the process. Previous best was 7.52 set by Gosia Rostek. This moves Jenna, whose PB had been 7.65, up to No 8 on the Scottish all-time lists and added the U20 title to the Senior and Scottish Schools golds she won earlier in the indoor season at the Emirates.
Under 13 sprinter Alyson Bell has possibly set two Scottish native records, previously held by Nicola Gossman of City of Glasgow. She took Gold in the 60m with a time of 8.11 seconds and Silver in the 200m, time 27.26 seconds, only headed by Mia Morrisroe of Liverpool Harriers. Jenna’s and Alyson’s records are still to be ratified.
