A great weekend of activity and results from last weekend and that’s before we have to update with more successes from today in Antrim , U11s at East Kilbride XC and at the SA open at the Emirates.
Where to start: Giffnock had no less than 23 athletes wearing the blue vests of the West of Scotland at the Inter-districts, part of the Great Edinburgh XC extravaganza on Saturday the 9th of January in Holyrood Park.
The west teams with Giffnock athletes providing a sizeable contribution had success in the U13 Girls/U15 Boys and U15 Girls
Kate Richardson took an excellent Bronze Medal in an U13 girls teams packed with Giffnock athletes and with Helen Chong amongst the first 6 counters.
Hamish Armitt claimed the Silver medal in the U15 Boys success
Heather Barnes, customary smile as wide as the Clyde, took the Gold medal position in the U15 Girls with Lynn & Charlotte McKenna & Clare Wallace counting for the West team
Andrew Love and Erin Wallace had been justly selected to run for Scotland in the Celtic International – a competition –held within the U17 Inter districts.
Erin triumphed as Winner taking the Gold in a great time.
We also saw Neil Gourley racing for Scotland in the relay before he makes his way back to Virginia Tec and the Indoor season in the USA.
Good day out indeed, in the cold and mud, as the weary travellers who had left the Clubhouse at 7.00 am made their way home. Other athletes vying for West district slots next year took part in the Road Race also at Holyrood.
A massive well done to all our squads! Full results on SA Website at link below
Next up Sunday 10th Jan and its the Emirates and the SAIL. Billy Glasgow finally able to report that he has secured a 3rd Match. The Final will now be contested on Sunday March the 20th.
