INDUCTION INFORMATION FOR NEW CLUB MEMBERSHIP

Giffnock North AC has always welcomed all new athletes to the club. We hope to continue to do so.Currently we believe we are the second largest athletics Club in Scotland. However, due to significant interest in the club we do have to operate a waiting list at times.

Our  inductions continue to be  very well attended with regular groups of  new athletes  being welcomed to the Club. In fact since the Olympics in 2012 and the Glasgow  Commonwealth Games in 2014 we have encountered a consistent rise in membership. This is great but has brought us challenges.

Our current training groups have to be able to absorb new athletes while still maintaining a best practice coach to athlete ratio. In some training squads, we have insufficient coaches to take on more athletes at this time and continue to ensure safe practice as well as provide the desirable coaching environment we aspire to. Please note however, that there is still space in some training groups for older athletes dependent on age group and event. We seek to open more training sessions to address this situation and we continue to recruit more coaches although we will always need more especially in event specific areas.

Induction Sessions

When we are in a position to hold an induction session you will be emailed full details at least two weeks in advance. You and your child will be invited to come along for an introduction to the Club and to receive further information. Children take part in a short training session lasting no more than one hour.

We want to be able to continue to welcome new athletes to Giffnock North AC however this is dependent on new coaches and volunteers joining our team. We would very much like to hear from any parents who are willing to become qualified parent-helpers/coaching assistants or who are willing to assist in other aspects of running the Club.
