Now that the cross country and indoor track seasons are well under way, its time to look back at the individual successes of the 2016-17 winter/summer seasons. It’s been a record year for Giffnock North athletes with sixteen athletes taking thirty four National and Commonwealth titles.
Special mention must go to u20 Erin Wallace and her victory in the Commonwealth Youth Games 1500m in Nassau in the Bahamas. Another athlete collecting honours is u15 Murray Fotheringham. Murray accumulated no less than seven National titles in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Another u15 athlete, Reuben Nairne took four National titles in both England and Scotland.
We have three senior high jumpers in the title winning list, Chris Mackay (u20) and seniors David Smith and Nikki Manson. The club congratulates all our National title winners and will be presenting them with special certificates to recognise their outstanding achievements at the upcoming Awards Night on the Saturday 2nd December. Tickets will be going on sale shortly.
