In the younger age groups, southside performances catching the eye included Amber Wade’s new championship best performance of two minutes 24.56 seconds in winning the U13 800m; Daniel Martin’s U15 60m hurdles victory (9.14 seconds) and Angelica Mayer’s U15 60m sprint gold (8.01 seconds). Mayer edged Elgin’s Tamsin Fowlie by two hundredths of a second for the title.

Reuben MacDonald nailed a terrific personal best with a close fourth in his U15 800m in two minutes 10.35 seconds, in a race that saw the cbp obliterated by Law’s Oscar Logan (2:02.69, not bad for an Under 15 …).
Big congratulations also to Cameron Deverill for his U15 1500m bronze in his debut race for the club, not far ahead of team-mate Cameron Green. Ella McGregor blitzed her way to the U15 300 final with a fine 44.62 pb in qualifying, and was sixth in a very fast final. Felix Chan won U13 200m bronze (27.76 seconds); Katy Donnelly’ U13 1500m silver; Calan Chong U13 1500m silver; Cara Weir U13 1.43m high jump silver, with namesake Cara Slater close to the medals with 1.38m; and a memorable double silver for U13 Ryan Davie in high jump and long jump.

Well done, one and all, never forgetting the officials, mums, dads, relatives, pals, coaches and supporters. Apologies to anyone not mentioned, it’s hard to keep track (and field) of all that’s going on. Keep up the good work, team. Do thy speedy utmost.
