Billy Glasgow reports
“Alyson Bell had a great time at her first outing as part of the 2021 Futures Sprint Relays (4 x 100m) Programme last weekend at the Loughborough International Competition. On Friday 21st she met up with the rest of the girls , her fellow members of the Futures Programme and, following, all the introductions, they had their 1st group training session. The main aim being to help sort out the two teams that would be competing at the International on Sunday 22nd of May. This was under the careful eye and guidance of the very experienced GB coaches and with more input and preparation on the Saturday.
Alyson was advised that she would be running in the women’s individual 100m guest race and in the first leg of the GB U20 4 x 100m B team both on the Sunday.
Needless to say, she and all her team mates were delighted particularly when they were presented with their GB kit. First up on race day was the individual 100m. Alyson got off to a great start and finished 2nd in a new PB time of 11.73. The relay was 1.5 hours later. Again, she had a great start and handed the baton and lead over to the 2nd leg runner, despite being in lane 7! The team then held the lead until approximately the last fifty meters to finish a clear 2nd place just behind the winning GB A team.
Report by Coach William Glasgow.
What an experience for Alyson to be part of . Many congratulations to her on her tremendous achievements and to her Coach, her family, and as she likes to acknowledge, the support of her training group.
