PROFILE

I discovered ‘running’ after being coerced, by workmates, to enter the Glasgow Marathon in 1983.

Shortly after, I joined Giffnock North to learn about ‘proper’ training in preparation for another attempt the following year.

As the membership increased I decided that I’d like to return something to the Sport and the Club both of which, by now, formed a large part of my life.

Over the next few years, I attained Assistant Coach, Club Coach and Senior Coach Awards ultimately upgrading to UKA Level 4 and, subsequently, being co-opted on to the Coach Education Team at Scottish Athletics.

I’ve had the privilege of being involved in the development of our Club Athletes over the last 30 years many of whom I now count as my personal ‘friends’. They are a joy to work with, keep me focussed and are important to my physical & mental wellbeing.

My Coaching philosophy is simple:- Help Athletes reach their potential and encourage them to savour their triumphs, enjoy the company of their peers and promote the Club.
