PROFILE
I started as a parent helper in about 1994 and followed the common path of eventually completing the Coaches Course.
I coach U11’s in our programme which covers running, jumping and throwing. I also help with the Junior Middle Distance/Endurance Group every Sunday and at events.
My special interests are Middle distance and Long Jump/Shot Putt for U11’s.
I started to help out when my children were training and competing for GNAC and carried on as I enjoyed it and thought the Club and young folk deserved it.
The best thing about coaching athletics is the smile on the faces of young people as they work hard, progress and realise it at both training and in competition.
There have been too many memorable moments in coaching to mention.
I have met many wonderful people through athletics who have taught me a lot about athletics (coaching, organising, building teams etc). I have also enjoyed being the Convenor of the Glasgow Athletics Association despite the frustrations because I believe it has made a big contribution to developing many good aspects of athletics in the Greater Glasgow area which have been taken up elsewhere.
