DNA Kids Event Emirates 5th Feb

Report by Karen Hendry & Karen Brown

Hot off the press!
Following qualification from Superteams we had 2 mixed teams at DNA kids, in the Emirates today 5th February. 16 teams of 4 competed in 60 metres, long jump and shot putt events; the combined team points determined start positions in the “final hunt”, a 200 metre relay. The team with the highest points set off first and the other teams followed at timed intervals. There were 3 relays and both our teams made the final relay to compete for the DNA ? The chase was on!l!!!!

2Nd PLACE and a massive well done goes to our B team;- Eilidh Brown, Orla Yeates, Cory McConville and Ayden Beard. They set off third and ran hard to finish a very close second behind the DNA KIDS Champions Dunfermline AAC
The A team:- Eva McGrory, Bethany McNeil, Paul Rolfe and Finlay Hamilton chased from a starting position of 5th. With a lot of ground to cover to catch the lead packs they fought hard and finished well. 5th out of 16 overall. We couldn’t quite replicate our 2 fastest times from the Superteams competition but boy did our teams  try their best and that’s what we enjoyed watching.

All our athletes did superbly well and were particularly strong in the 60 metres; we predict many PB’s. Individual results now at this link

A huge thank you to Clare and Rachel on the day but to all the coaches involved at U11 & U13 for their continued support, endless encouragement and outstanding coaching!

Eva McGrory “I loved everything about today and it was so much fun watching the International athletes. They are FAST, some even signed my DNA t. shirt”.

Eilidh Brown “My highlights were the 60 metres and the shot putt. I also loved watching the DNA adult event and getting lots of autographs”.

Thanks very much to both Karens for reporting! Thanks also to all the parents too for getting everyone there on time and to the teammates who came to support , especially Logan McNulty !
