A small group of of Giffnock athletes traveled to Sheffield for the England Athletics Indoor Championships. Three of those athletes came back with medals.
Under 15 Alyson Bell cruised through her 200m heat and semi-final in first place and followed that up with a 25.45 club record run in the final to take gold. Alyson, in blistering form, also came through the rounds of the 60m to win silver in another club record time of 7.89 seconds.
In the U20 men’s long jump Alessandro Schenini took gold, heading a Scots 1-2 with a jump of 7.07m, ahead of Henry Clarkson of Lasswade (7.05m)
Fellow under 20 Adam Clayton clocked 21.75 seconds in the 200m final to take silver. This was a club record and puts Adam seventh best on the all-time indoor list in that age-group.
Also flying the Giffnock flag were Reuben Nairne who was 8th in the under 17 Pole Vault and Nikolai Gajic who clocked 1.59.60 in his 800m heat.
