A busy weekend saw us retain our two girls’ titles at U15 and U17, Under 15 boys Team took Silver with an individual bronze for Heather Barnes and Silver for Erin Wallace.

The Under 15 girls lifted Gold for the 5th successive year…..but it was close! We tied on points with fast improving Garscube…but shaded it on countback, where our third counter Helen Chong finished in 15th and the Garscube third counter took 23rd place.Kate Richardson,Abby and Jill Carswell helped our cause greatly by all finishing before the third Garscube counter……super team work!
Special mention for our highest placed finisher Francesca Davidson in 6th and our new kid on the block Jennifer Murray in 13th place.

However our U/15 girls,by their high standards, overall didn’t have their best day, and I know they will be out to “knock em dead” at the West Districts at Irvine.Mind you, based on Saturday’s finishing positions, seven of our girls would have made Team West selection!
Under 17 girls were in fine form taking Gold,

Heather Barnes in 3rd Place in Gold U17 Women’s Team
and if the rules allowed,Team Silver.
Our girls mixed it with Eloise Walker of Edinburgh AC and Cera Gemmill of Team East Lothian at the sharp end and weren’t too far adrift at the finishing line……Clare Wallace and Charlotte McKenna backed Heather up superbly…with Emily Crusher and Rhona Mowat also not far away.We had 6 in 12 and with Annabel Ballantyne and Sofia Kirkpatrick hopefully, available next time that would make potentially eight athletes selected for Team West!Additionally if the rules would allow it…our trio of Charlotte McKenna (7),Emily Crusher(11) and Rhona Mowat (12) would have taken Team Silver with 30 points!

Under 15 boys lifted Silver.Ethan Carolan leading the way and excellent packing and finishing from Harris
Paterson and Jacob Luc with Ross O’Brien not too far behind.Potentially another four Team West vests.
Under 17 boys performed well, however with Callum Young and Hamish Armitt not available, a high team finishing position was going to be a tall order.Mind you the boys dug in and finished in a very creditable 9th place. Our highest placer was Ben Shaw in 15/82.A wee mention for Keiran Killen who seems to have settled in well at the club and who finished 40/82.

Our promotees Erin Wallace ,Nikolai Gajic and Nick Boyle all performed with distinction in their respective u/20-Senior races.Erin taking silver in the Senior Womens/ U/20 race and 7th Place overall.Nikolai led home our seniors with Nick 3rd placed senior from GN.
A successful day all round………..upwards and onwards !

Thanks Dudley . Well done to all our Club athletes on a sunny day at Kilmarnock!

And a fast finishing Andy Bonnar
