Renfrewshire XC Relays in the Sunshine

Before our sizeable contingent of club athletes head to Cumbernauld for Saturday’s National Age Group and Senior/ Vets XC Relays it is best that we report on last weekend’s Relays at Nether Pollok
Brilliant Success for the Senior Women on a very sunny Sunday, as they took the Gold Medals with Yvonne McNairne , Jill Smylie and Rhonda Mowat . To cap a great win , Rhona and Yvonne recorded the 2nd and 3rd fastest times of the day. They were well backed up by a squad of other senior and vet club athletes, some savouring their first cross country race.
Our Men’s squad most in the photo above  took 4th and 5th places.

The U11s Took Gold in the Girls race with Freya Scobie , Lula Neilson & Sarah McNulty and Bronze as well with Emily Jackson, Edie Campbell & Rose Costello.
U11Boys took Silver with Matthew Snowden, Joseph Ottolini and Patrick Fraser
We fielded 20 x U11 Boys and 9 X U11 Girls and many were also taking to cross country for the first time. The experience was definitely enhanced by the sublime Autumn weather.

Following some great results from the U11 squad the rest of the junior endurance athletes showed good form at the Renfrewshire Cross Country Relays.

U13 boys gave us the closest race of the day with a sprint to the line! Craig Shennan, Mitchell Scott and Calan Chong took gold with Oliver Bryers, Cameron Harris and Oliver MacDonald in silver position.
U13 girls Freya Campbell, Amy Vincent and Hazel O’Donahue also won silver.
U15 boys were in good form with Michael Nolan, Matthew Murphy and Matthew Knak in gold position and Hugh Shiels, Matthew Cox and Adam Chamberlain joining them on the podium for bronze medals.
U15 girls kept the medals coming with silver for Kirsty Wylie, Tuscany Wright and Emma McClennan and bronze for Nuala O’Donnell, Ruby White and Kiara Meiklejohn.
To finish off a good day in those sunny conditions our U17 girls win silver medals. Well done to Jill and Helen and special thanks to Eva for stepping up an age group to complete the team.
Many thanks to all coaches, parents, supporters for cheering on the squad throughout the day.

So a good day all round. And now for Cumbernauld !
