Reports from Club Coaches following 1st Match on Sunday 8th January in the SAIL [Scottish Athletics Indoor League]
Sara Lang noted PBs all round for the U13 girls with consistently good performances ( 3rd 4th and 5th places) across all disciplines. Many of these athletes making their debut appearance at indoor league matches.
Particular mention for Angelica Mayer s 2nd place in the 60m, and for the 2 throwers who achieved 2nd and 4th places respectively( credit to Throws Coach Jim Coyle).
Solid performances from the U17 Girls but no PBS this time adds Christine Donaghy . They hope to rectify that soon.
Symon Lipp reports great performances from the U15 Boys shaping up as a strong team this season .
Reuben Nairne achieved a club record in the Long Jump, Murray Fotheringham ran a great 800m & Jacob Luc equally ran well with PBS in both his 800m & 400m)
Max McHarg, returning from injury, sprinted well over 60m and Fraser Lipp won his 200m – all of these athletes contributing to the points totals . The Under 11s , many as we say , putting their foot on the start line for the first time were brilliant.
Although the team photo doesn’t show smiles from all the U11 Team , that’s the photographers fault . The highlights were the boys in the 600m dominating the track with Craig Shennan delivering a Club Record in his race with 1.52.53 and Calan Chong also under 2 minutes , Sophie Ferguson doing a great 60m and Erin McKay doubling up well on the 600m and 60m. However all the athletes were a credit to themselves and the club.
Overall, a good start for the club in the SAIL and all looking forward to the 2nd Match on 21st of January.
Full results will be published when fully scrutinised and available . Now for the Indoor Open Results 14th Jan and Antrim XC
