Many Giffnock North athletes were in action on Friday 10th June and Saturday 11th  in the Scottish Schools championships.

While most of the South Glasgow/East Ren schools seem to either ignore track and field athletics or are unwilling to give young athletes a chance at competition, some Giffnock North athletes managed to break through those barriers and compete in the national championship.

The weather on both days was not athlete friendly with constant gusting, direction-switching wind and Friday ended in a deluge of rain. Saturday was drier but even windier, so kudos to all those that pb’d or sb’d. A mighty big up to Calum Dick and Hannah Ryding who both recorded a championship best performances.

Here are the medallists from both days;

Hannah Turnbull LJ (u15)
Alastair Nuggent 3000m (u17)
