Heavy rain at Battery Park, Greenock didn’t dampen the spirits of Giffnock’s junior athletes as they raced to individual and team medals at the Scottish Young Athletes Road Race Championships.
Hamish Armitt continued his terrific season with yet another win in the under 15 boy’s race. Hamish clocked a time of 13.40, five seconds ahead of Kane Elliott of Falkirk Victoria Harriers. Under 15 team gold was also achieved with Andrew Robertson (15th) and Eoghan O’Donnell (16th).
Hamish ,when asked about his season so far, was able to add
I have had a consistent season and have kept solid results all the way through. With my highlight being the British Cross races and taking the overall win. Now the focus is the mini marathon down in London and the track season. I am aiming for 3.58 for the 1500m, sub 8.45 for a 3000m and sub 1.58 for 800m .
Thanks Hamish !
