At the 125th Senior/u17 Track & Field Championships Giffnock’s high jumpers were in top form taking both the men’s and women’s titles. Nikki Manson cleared 1.81m to take gold with Catherine Palmer, 1.61m, taking bronze. David Smith took the men’s event clearing 2.21m, which is the Commonwealth Games standard.

 

There were also four silver medals for Giffnock athletes. Freya Menzies in the 300m hurdles in a time of 46.91, Jenna Wrisberg, fresh from winning the u20 title, clocked 11.77 in the 100m taking second. Nikki Manson, not content with one medal, threw 39.40m in the javelin to take silver. Rachel Alexander, returning to form, leaped 5.91m in the long jump to complete the quartet of silvers.

There was also a bronze medal for u17 Kyle McLean in the 200m in a time of 23.00.
