While our 100 plus cross country athletes were churning up the mud in Falkirk at the National Cross Country Championships, five of our top track and field athletes were competing in the dry and warm conditions of the EIS Indoor Arena in Sheffield at the England Athletics Age Group Championships.
Congratulations to Reuben Nairne who took gold in the u17 mens Pole Vault with a leap of 4.40m. Reuben also competed in the 60m hurdles and was fifth in the final with a time of 8.27.
Another multi-talented under 17 athlete is Murray Fotheringham who won two medals. Murray cleared 2.01m in the high jump to take silver and 6.77m in the long jump for bronze.
On the track Findlay Waugh battled his way to the final of the under 17 mens 200m and finished in the bronze medal postion in a time of 22.55.
Two other athletes made track finals, Katie Foss was 5th in the under 17 womens 300m and Fraser Angus was 5th in the u20 mens 200m.
All in all a fantastic day for Giffnock athletes, well done to all.
