SUMMER CAMPS REPORT

All the excitement at the Olympics was nearly matched by the enthusiasm of the young attendees at the very successful summer camps held over 6 weeks at Hutchesons Track

We had a major COVID blip in week 2 but luckily that was the only concern encountered. The Camps were a great success and the feedback has been excellent . Led professionally by our 3 Lead Coaches Iona Menzies, Orla Lang & Rosie McKay we also had the excellent benefit of other experienced coaches – Louise Paterson, Sam Young Francesca Davidson and those young coaches who are fairly new to helping at the  camps. Among them Eoghan O’Donnell &  Murray Fotheringham who have been camp volunteers before &  have honed their skills at the Saturday Run /Jump /Throw Sessions .

We also were able to welcome several brand new coaches who moved from volunteering status to coach status in time for the last week – Rachel Callan, Caroline MacConnell, Zoe Flower, Julia Cash &  Rhona Mowat. Some array of talent indeed.

All of our coaches were a credit to the Club and provided a superb athletics experience to  those attending.

We also had a staggering number of volunteers who contributed enormously to the success & enjoyment of the young athletes. Some of these young athlete volunteers are completing or adding to their Duke of Edinburgh Awards , others were just gaining valuable experience and skills. They were an indispensable help to the coaches and are a great asset to the Club.

Josh Allen,  Eilidh Hunter, Freya Campbell , Nuala O’Donnell,  Emily Watson, Lexi Martin ,Ella McWilliams, Cara Weir , Esme Dougall &  Josie Reilly .

Thanks to Denny, Patricia & Anne for  Level 2 Cover and Graham, Dudley & Ronnie for the camp keepsake photos.  We also need to thank Alyson Bell for visiting the camp with her Gold Relay Medal from the U20 European Championships in Tallinn !

We think Alyson enjoyed it especially the invites to join in with a game of Dodgy Ball .Thanks also to Dudley and Paul for help with the Club Tents which were very necessary but not needed so much due to our good fortune with the weather.

Many, many  thanks to all !
