And the full squad

Reports/ comments also from our young athletes below
Sara Lang , Jackie Alexander and Clare Stevenson are delighted to report that the 16 Young athletes who represented the club at the Scottish Super teams Competition in the Emirates on Sunday 5th Feb were a credit to themselves ,their parents and to Giffnock North AAC . Their behaviour all day was exemplary and in fact they were a joy to be with on what was a fairly long and demanding day . The Organisers from Scottish Athletics and the Officials were great, assisting these young athletes to participate in this Team based Multi events format, some competing for the first time , beginning to understand the rules of competition and learning much about athletics as well as having the opportunity to take part at the Emirates Arena. Grateful thanks also to the parents for getting the athletes there on time. You have no idea how helpful this is to coaches and Team Managers as well as helping the athletes settle to what is in front of them especially the rounds of the really exciting 4x200m relay races . Well done to them all.
Over 100 clubs from all over Scotland were participating and the Arena was full .
Giffnock Boys A team were 4th with our other Teams well placed too
We will be very quick to point out in future that there will be not too much sympathy for Athletes and Parents complaining about early starts to get to the Emirates [and some other competitions] when we heard about the mammoth journey of the North Uist AAC . Rising at 5am on Friday to get a ferry from Lochmaddy on Uist over to Uig on Skye and then a long journey to stay overnight in Stirling before another early start to get to Glasgow . When we spoke to them they were also facing cancelled ferries on the way home due to the poor weather. Well done North Uist and all the other teams with the long journeys to make for athletics participation and competition. Inverness Harriers will have been happy with their trip to Glasgow .
The Girls Super Team from North Uist AAC . We thought this was their Team kit but their Coaches /Team Managers told us they managed to fit in a quick trip to the shops and they all liked the same tops.

“On Sunday the 6th of February at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Giffnock North competed in the Scottish Athletics Under 12 Super Teams.
They entered 2 teams of four boys and 2 teams of four girls. All teams did extremely well. The tense atmosphere helped some athletes achieve a new PB.
Each athlete competed in four events: 60m Sprint, 4×200m Relay, Long Jump and Shot Put against teams from across Scotland.
Conor Boyle from the boys A team had this to say “I enjoyed the competition but I felt there was too long a wait between events.”
Ellis Nairn thought that it was ” a fun and exciting opportunity to get to run against other Scottish children.”
Shay Garioch said that “I enjoyed running at the Emirates.” “
