From Heather Stewart
“ It is coming to the end of “Volunteer Week”, and we would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the countless volunteers who dedicate their time and efforts to the Club.
Every act of volunteering has a positive impact on the club, no matter how big or small, across the full scope of track and field disciplines within Giffnock North.
Volunteers come in all guises, from young people undertaking their Duke of Edinburgh awards, young coaches, our outstanding officials, parent helpers, team captains, website manager and of course our coaches & coach assistants who are front-facing, for the kids, young people and adults.
We also have members of our Board , Facilities Committee & Junior Committee who work tirelessly in the background throughout the year to make the club run smoothly and efficiently. We also have a Committee leading the celebrations for the 40th Anniversary & a Festival of Running Committee organising that event.
Everyone will have a different role to play. People will have different life experiences and knowledge to share. They will support the athletes at weekly sessions, athletic competitions & events and will always have the general well- being of the club members at the forefront of their minds.
Each volunteer has the same goal, to fulfil every athletes potential to the best of their ability and to assist them to progress within their chosen field of athletics.
Volunteers are integral to the success of the club. Thank you everyone.
We are always looking to extend our volunteer list. No athletics background is required. Please speak to a coach if you are interested. “
Thanks very much to Heather Stewart for this reminder ! Heather is one of our newest coaches having acted as a parent helper for some considerable time .She wrote this article to pay tribute to her fellow coaches and all those who contribute to the continuing success at Giffnock North.
