Report from Ted Gourley
“It was great to see the Giffnock North vests out in force at the weekend the length and breadth of Scotland. There were particularly strong performances from our ladies – Mary McCutcheon first female vet in the Ben Gullipen Hill race, Jill Smyllie and Sheila Lewis finishing first and second female in the Dumfries 12 mile road race with times of 1.20 and 1.26 (PB) respectively with Kirsteen Haughan in sixth place.
Congratulations also to our ladies team of Debi Scott, Nicola Urquhart and Caroline Gibson claiming first prize in the Jack Crawford 10K road race.
A mention for Iain Carroll who recorded a fast time of 1.15.47(PB) at the Inverness half marathon, finishing 15th overall out of a large field of over 1000 athletes.
Well done everyone who turned out for the club and nice to see Seumas Mac A’ Bhreatnaich (aka Jim Galbraith) making his long awaited return to hill racing at Ben Gullipen.”
Ted did neglect to add his own great efforts to this report in the Jack Crawford 10k . He and Luke Chamberlain had a good day too !!
