British Athletics Championships

The Muller British Athletics Championships took place at the weekend in Manchester and a number of our athletes were in good form.

Erin Wallace was rewarded with the Silver medal in the 1500m just being caught on the line by Luton AC athlete Revee Walcott-Nolan.  Erin’s time was 4.08.52, very close to her personal best.

David Smith continued his high jump form clearing 2.17m for the bronze medal. David took one jump at 2.21m but then passed when two others cleared it, to take two shots at the next height..  He was very close to clearing 2.24m.  The competition was won by Tom Gale of Team Bath with 2.24m.

Our other top high jumper Nikki Manson wa 4th in the women’s event with 1.82m, Morgan Lake taking the title with 1.93m.

Rookie track racer Duncan Robinson, in only his second official 3000m race, took a magnificent second place in the under 20 race. Duncan was another who was gazumped on the line, this time by Windsor, Slough & Eton athlete Will Barnicoat who came storming through at he death.  Duncan’s time was 8.23.72.

Alyson Bell, who is still only 17, qualified for the semi final of the 100m in 3rd place in her heat despite a strong head wind. Unfortunately Alyson false started in the semi and was disqualified.  I’m sure Alyson will have benefitted from the experience.
