Erin Wallace takes European u23 1500m bronze

Many congratulations from all at Giffnock North to Erin Wallace and her coach Andy Young, who with a mighty lunge to the line secured the European u23 Bronze 1500m medal in Tallinn, Estonia. Erin clocked 4:14.85 and made third place by just two hundredths of second from Spaniard Agueda Munoz behind an Italian 1-2 led by Gaia Sabbatini.

Erin was quoted by Scottish Athletics  –

‘I thought I am not going to make it if I don’t throw myself at the line so that’s what I did and I am glad I did,’ said Erin.

‘It was worth it for the medal. I think I ran the race well although the last lap really hurt but I am so glad I made the podium. I saw a wee space at 200m so took my chance and then pushed on to the line.’

Good luck to our three athletes, Alyson Bell, Reuben Nairne and Duncan Robinson competing at the European u20 Championships also taking place in Tallinn, 15-18th July.
