Giffnock North Success at SAIL 2026 Final

Giffnock North had a fantastic day at the Scottish Athletics Indoor League (SAIL) Final on Sunday 22^nd March. After 3 previous qualifying matches, Giffnock North were the only club to have to have a team in every age group.

How Does SAIL work

SAIL is a league competition, where athletes in each event compete for points. One point for a win, two points for coming in second, etc. At the end of the day the team with the least number of points across all the events is the winner. As well as the SAIL final, there was also a 4x200m relay competition. The SAIL Final was held at Scotland’s world class indoor athletics venue – Emirates Arena. Our enthusiastic athletes put on their fabulous finals face-paint (zoom in on the photos to see it!) and competed in middle distance, sprints, hurdles, throws and jumps, trying to rack up the lowest points total throughout the day.

And how did Giffnock North do?

Before revealing any results, we need to applaud the huge efforts that all our athletes put into the competition. Some were thrown into unfamiliar events at the last moment to cover for injury/exhaustion and they did so without hesitation or complaint, and in doing so some discovered previously unknown talent. And when not competing, were on hand to give enthusiastic support for their team mates. Bravo Giffnock North.

At the end of the day, when all the points had been totalled up and our athletes managed to catch their breath, Giffnock had secured 6out of 8 podium spots in the League competion and 6 out of 8 relay podium positions.
