The Manchester International took place at Sport City in Manchester on Wednesday 18th August and Giffnock had a number of u20 athletes representing Scotland. Scotland were competing against England, Wales, Northern Ireland and GB u18’s.

Rachel Callan continued her form from last week’s Scottish Championships taking the silver medal in the 400m Hurdles. Rachel’s time of 60.64 was a new PB and Club Record. Rachel also ran the third leg of the Scottish 4x400m Relay team who won Gold in a new Scottish Record 3.43.08. Taking five seconds of the old record set in Cyprus back in 2000.
Alyson Bell clocked 11.94 in the u20 100m, finishing second. Alyson also stepped up to the Senior 4x100m Relay squad who finished fourth. Freya Cowan anchored the u20 4x100m Relay team who finished second in a time of 47.30.
Murray Fotheringham was 4th on count back in the high jump in a seasons best of 2.03m. Second, third and fourth all clearing the same height. The event was won by English athlete Lionel Owana jumping 2.06.

Murray was also part of the 4x100m Relay squad in an ill fated race which saw England, Scotland and Wales all being disqualified for baton changing offences. Northern Ireland were the only legal finishers.
