CATCH TWO GIFFNOCK NORTH ATHLETES in the Euro Indoors this week (BBC2 starting this evening).
Neil Gourley’s 1500 heat is today (Thursday). He’s European record holder for the indoor mile (3:49.46), current GB 1500 and 1k indoor record holder and a three-time national champion over 1500. Gives Jakob Ingebrigtsen something to think about.
Erin Wallace goes in the 800, starting Friday morning. Erin is a multiple Scottish indoor record holder over 1500 and 3k, and her many other achievements include Commonwealth Youth Games gold, and a Euro U23 1500 bronze. Erin’s 800 PB is 1:59.20.
Both of these exceptional athletes came up through Giffnock North’s ranks, from Under 11, so I think we can take a keener interest than most, and shout a bit louder at the telly, as we wish them fast feet and good fortune.
