Pure Gold! Giffnock North Sparkles at the 4J SUPERteams

The Emirates Arena was rocking on Sunday 1st February, and our Giffnock North stars were right at the heart of the action! It was a day of non-stop energy, PBs, and plenty of noise as our Under-12s took on the 4J Indoor SUPERteams. In a massive field of nearly 350 competitors from all over Scotland (including North Uist!), our young athletes excelled.

It was a great atmosphere of in the Emirates Arena, and our squad handled the pressure like absolute pros. The teamwork on display was amazing, with many of the athletes competing in the Emirates for the very first time. The team spirit really paid off when the points were tallied, seeing Giffnock North climb to the very top of the podium. Topping a field that included fantastic teams from Harmeny AC and Gala Harriers was no small feat, but our kids rose to the challenge with massive smiles and incredible determination.

Here’s some quotes from a few of the team:

  • Adam Rai (who finished an outstanding 2nd overall) – ‘It’s been so much fun today. My favourite event was the long jump and I managed to jump 3.99m’.
  • Fraser McCourt (who managed to throw an impressive 4.68m in the shot putt) – ‘I’ve really enjoyed competing in the Emirates Arena and having fun with my team mates’
  • Anna Wright (who managed run the 200m in 31.92 secs) – ‘My favourite event was the 200m as I’ve never ran on the full track in the Emirates. I also enjoyed chatting to the other teams’.

Watching the team collect their winner’s medals was a proud moment for all the parents and coaches.

As ever, a massive thank you to all coaches, officials and organisers for their efforts in making the day such a success.
