Record Breaking Weekend

Giffnock athletes were in record breaking form over the weekend in Birmingham at the World Tour Indoor Final and across the pond in Texas.

At the World Tour Indoor Final in Birmingham, the new track at the Utilita Arena is proving to be very quick with no less than three British records falling. Neil Gourley streaked to a new 1500m record in 3.32.48 taking the title from Josh Kerr, who was also in the race. Neil tracked Josh until the last lap and when he faded, Neil took his opportunity and sprinted to the line. Neil’s time is the second fastest this year, only surpassed by Jakob Ingebrigtsen. The two should meet in the Europesn Championships taking place in Istanbul, 2nd-5th March.

Many congratulations to Neil, his coach and family.
