RECORDS SMASHED at INTERNATIONAL EVENT

The EAP (Events for Athletic Promotion) competition came to Emirates Arena on Sunday 2nd Feb. Among the international competitors from across Europe, Ireland and England were no less than eight Giffnock North Athletes. They didn’t just compete, they broke records too!

Details of  Alessandro Schenini’s new Scottish Indoor and Native record of 7.86 for Gold in the Long Jump and Alyson Bell’s double Gold and double EAP record in the 60 and 200m can be found in the full Scottish Athletics EAP Report.

Alessandro was pushed all the way by Murray Fotheringham who finished third with 7.72m. Great to see two Giffnock athletes dominating this event.

In addition to our medal winning record breakers, Giffnock’s developing athletes were on show. Erin Campbell and Angus Rennie competed in the 60m Hurdles. Erin made the final and Angus set a new club record in his first time over the senior hurdles. Rachel Callan made a double appearance, first in the 60m and then leading the field round as pacemaker for the 800m. Finlay Waugh also raced in the 60m

And what a night for two of our U18 athletes – Angus Weir in the Long Jump and Zoe McKell in the High Jump – who got to compete alongside the established international stars. We are sure that this will be the first of many International competitions for both of them.
