I have been coaching for about 2y as a parent helper/ coaching assistant.
I help with u13 and u15 age groups in endurance running.
I got into coaching as all three of my kids run with GN, as do I, and I realise that the kids can only train of adults are willing to coach them. I enjoy helping young athletes get better at a sport I have loved for over 30 years myself! My favourite event is definitely cross country.
I love seeing athletes improve, especially those who maybe start off not being super fast, but who train hard, and then reap the benefits. Seeing kids run faster than they maybe even thought they could themselves is so rewarding!
The downsides are the cold at the track in the winter ( it’s much warmer for the athletes who are running!) and the midges in the summer.
