This Club is strongly opposed to the use of performance enhancing supplements/drugs in sport. It goes against the ethos of sport which is that hard work, smart training and effective performance is the way to achieve in sport. It recognises that over the last few years there has been increased promotion of the use of high strength caffeine gum and other high strength caffeine products as a drug delivery system of caffeine to specifically enhance performance. This gum could also potentially harm the health of athletes. Consequently, the club condemns any moves to normalise the use of stimulants and needles in athletics. It stands against all forms of intimidation and bullying and supports the rights of athletes and coaches to speak out on matters affecting athlete welfare. Whistleblowers are to be welcomed and supported and not victimised.
